Each Friday, the Maui County Office of Economic Development hosts a neighborhood party in a different area of the island, including Wailuku, Lahaina, Makawao, Kihei, and even the neighbor island of Lanai.
With family-friendly attractions like live music entertainment, boutique and local vendor shopping, food trucks, magic shows and more, it’s one of the best local events to check out while you’re here. Even better, it’s free! Cheers to you, wallet.
First Fridays in Wailuku Town
Located on Wailuku’s historic Market Street, First Fridays have been a long-running staple for residents and visitors in central Maui since 2008. Get here early for ample street parking, and bring cash in case you want to do some shopping, as not all vendors accept credit card payments.
One of the best perks about the Wailuku party? It’s the only town party with a beer and wine garden! It’s also the location of Request Music’s annual Uptown Get Down b-boy battle, which typically occurs each first Friday in August.
Multiple live music performances are scheduled, including past performers such as Kelli Love, Maui 8 Track Players, Omar & Rare Vibration and more. There’s also a free yoga class, local artists, and plenty of ono grinds from popular Wailuku eateries like 808 on Main, Saigon Cafe, Wailuku Coffee Company, Kings BBQ, Gionnottos and more. Yum.
Spend some time enjoying the night sky and scenery with family and friends in charming Wailuku Town, and experience one of Maui’s best towns and weekly events.
