October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Each year, communities join together to support and give back to this cause that affects so many families all across the world. Luckily, in recent years, breast cancer death rates have decreased and statistics show that early detection could be the reason why. Educating others around you about this is a great way to start spreading awareness! Here are other ways you can support the cause through the month of October:
Attend a local event on Maui
3rd Annual Kokua 4 Kokonuts Breast Cancer Awareness Walk: This annual fundraiser welcomes all ages to join together for a fun walk through Queen Ka’ahumanu Center!
When: Saturday October 13th, 2018 | 8AM – 11AM
Where: 275 W Kaahumanu Ave | Kahului, HI 96732
Cost: $35 (You’ll get a t-shirt and be entered for a chance to win great prizes!)
Maui Paddle for a Cure: This non-competitive event allows paddle boarders, canoers and kayakers to participate in a benefit race to support breast cancer. This event has collectively raised over $115,000 for Susan G. Komen Hawaii! Use the hashtag, #HyattPinkPaddle to spread the word!
When: Saturday October 13th, 2018 | 7AM – 1PM
Where: Beachfront of Hyatt Regency Maui
Cost: $65 – $95 for registration (100% of registration fees and donations will be donated to Susan G. Komen Hawaii), free of cost for bystanders, donation are welcome!
Maui Spirit of Survival Walk: A 3 mile walk devoted to giving aloha to all those affected by breast cancer. All proceeds will go the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’s efforts to fund research and programs for patients in Hawaii.
When: Saturday October 30th, 2018 | 7AM – 11AM
Where: Polo Beach Park

Brands that give back

True&Co. Is offering a special selection of pink bras through their Bras to Fight Cancer campaign where 25% of each purchase goes towards the Keep A Breast Foundation and their efforts to combat this disease that affects so many women and families across the world!
