We had a chance to spend some time at Haleakala Crater the other day. It’s nice to think back on it here and there because of the perspective it lends us. Tonight, I’m lying in bed in South Maui sweating through my sheets. It’s great having heat in winter, but this is HOT. Perspective. The cold, dry, thin air of Haleakala at over 10,000 feet feels incredible…
Maui is truly a magical place. It’s one of the few places on Earth with pretty much every kind of micro-climate within short distances of each other.
There have been many changes at Haleakala National Park as far as visiting. If you want to come for sunrise on your own, the park requires a reservation. This reservation must be made often weeks ahead of time. An alternative is to take a tour. Check out one of the many Maui zipline operations to see the slopes while having a thrill!
What a special place! Maui makes us feel special for being able to live here and experiencing so many different levels of paradise from one day to the next.
Next time you’re looking for a memorable place to visit on Maui, make sure to check out Haleakala Crater!
