Happy summer, Maui lovers! Things are heating up on the Valley Isle, and there are plenty of fun things to do this month. Catch a comedy show, head to Hana for the 13th annual Limu Festival, or hop on the Expeditions Ferry for a fun-filled day at the Lanai Pineapple Festival. Here are some of the best Maui events happening this July.

July 3 

Tommy Davidson: Get ready for a night of laughter as Tommy Davidson takes the stage at da Playground Maui. Davidson is known for his exceptional range of talent – from stand-up comedy to acting and even musical accomplishments. He will be joined by comedian Jose Raymond and Maui’s own Chino LaForge. 6 pm. 21+.

July 5 

Tempa & Naor Music Medicine Series: Known for their unique “SoulFolk” sound, Maui’s own Tempa & Naor brings you an exclusive musical evening at the Pro Arts Playhouse. The duo will be accompanied by a full live band, showcasing their original music and captivating storytelling. Pro Arts Playhouse, Kihei. 7:30 pm. 

Makawao Stampede 2024 Bull Bash & Concert: The most highly anticipated event of 4th of July weekend is back! Head to Oskie Rice Event Center for the annual Makawao Stampede Bull Bash and a live performance by Kapena. Get your tickets in advance, this event sells out every year. Oskie Rice Event Center, Makawao. 5 pm.

July 6 

A Night of Country Music with Steve Zuwala: Multi-award-winning country artist Steve Zuwala is taking the stage at Pro Arts Playhouse for a night of boot-stomping tunes. Zuwala is best known as Europe’s #1 country artist, with seven platinum and five gold disc awards. Pro Arts Playhouse, Kihei. 7:30 pm. 

Lanai Pineapple Festival: The Lanai Pineapple Festival is an annual event that honors Lanai’s once-booming pineapple industry. Head to Dole Park from 1 pm for live music, hula performances, retail vendors, games, craft stalls, and food booths. The event culminates with a firework show at 9 pm. Expeditions will also add a 9:45 pm ferry back to Maalaea, so Maui folks can enjoy the entire event! Dole Park, 1 pm to 9 pm.

July 7 

Spawnbreezie: Hailing from Missouri, Spawnbreezie seamlessly blends island reggae, reggae roots, R&B, and hip hop to create a unique sound he calls “Island Hip Hop.” You might recognize some of his smash hits, like “Don’t Let Go” and “Oh My Goodness.” da Playground, Maalaea. 8 pm. 21+. 

July 12 

TUMUA: Born and raised on Oahu, Tumua is a stand-up comedian, podcaster, former collegiate athlete, and social media personality. His online presence reaches over 600+ thousand followers, with social media sketches and stand-up bits that resonate in the Hawaii community and beyond. Don’t miss his Hawaii-style comedy at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. 7:00 pm. 9:30 pm. 

Seussical: Seussical is one of the most performed musicals in the United States, featuring all your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, from Horton the Elephant to Cat in the Hat and more. Don’t miss this fun family musical at the Iao Theater, opening July 12. Historic Iao Theater, Wailuku.

July 13 

Jazz Maui presents Victor Fields: Called one of the most “dynamic and versatile” jazz singers today by Chicago Jazz Magazine, Victor Fields is a Billboard-charted artist in both contemporary jazz and R&B. Fields is bringing his silky smooth soulful sounds to the Pro Arts Playhouse for one night only. Pro Arts Playhouse, Kihei. 7:30 pm. 

July 19 

Chelsea Handler: Chelsea Handler is a comedian, television host, and six-time New York Times best-selling author. Her frank humor has established her as one of the most celebrated voices in entertainment and pop culture today. Catch her at the MACC as part of her *LBB Tour. Maui Arts and Cultural Center, Kahului. 8 pm. 

July 20 

13th Annual Hana Limu Festival: The 13th annual Hana Limu Festival brings people from across the islands to celebrate Hawaiian seaweed and enjoy a day of music, hula, games, arts and crafts, and a silent auction. Proceeds go to benefit a scholarship for Hana students committed to higher education and the Hana community. All events are free and open to the public! Hana Bay Beach Park, 10 am to 4 pm.

July 21 

Kala‘e Parish: Kala‘e Parish is a multi Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning Native Hawaiian country artist. Parish has shared the stage with iconic country artists like Brett Young and Morgan Wade. Now, he’s bringing his island-inspired country sounds to da Playground Maui. da Playground, Maalaea. 8 pm. 21+.

July 26 

Hawaii Comedy – Legends Tour: Three of Hawaii’s most legendary comedians come together for a night of laughs at the MACC. Andy Bumatai, Frank De Lima, and Augie T join forces for a ‘buss laugh’ show. Don’t miss it! Maui Arts and Cultural Center. 7 pm.

Weekly Events

Mondays

Lei Po’o Making: The Shops of Wailea invites guests to learn how to weave ti leaf leis using ferns and flowers. Lei Po’o can be worn on the head and was typically used as a gift on special occasions by Ali’i (Hawaiian Royalty). This event is open to both keiki and adults and runs from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.

Tuesdays

Polynesian Show at The Shops: This weekly show will highlight Hawaiian hula as well as other dances of Polynesia. The performance will take place at the Shops of Wailea from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Coconut Husking at The Shops: From 2:30 to 3:30 pm weekly, the Shops of Wailea will be hosting demonstrations of the traditional and modern methods in husking a coconut. Learn how the Hawaiians would use every part of the coconut from food to crafting eating utensils, jewelry as well as furniture.

Tuesday Trivia at Mahalo Aleworks: Head to Upcountry’s only brewery to test your trivia skills. Be sure to make it by 5:45 pm to register, trivia kicks off at 6 pm. Teams can be no larger than four. The winning team is awarded a $50 brewery gift card!

Wednesdays 

Lei Po’o Making: The Shops of Wailea invites guests to learn how to weave ti leaf leis using ferns and flowers. Lei Po’o can be worn on the head and was typically used as a gift on special occasions by Ali’i (Hawaiian Royalty). This event is open to both keiki and adults and runs from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.

Slack Key Guitar Show: The Masters of Hawaiian Music Slack Key Show is open for live shows once again. The Slack Key Show ohana will perform each week at 6:30 pm at the Napili Kai Beach Resort. Tickets are required for entry, this show is also streamed online.

Thursdays

Polynesian Show at the Shops: This weekly show will highlight Hawaiian hula as well as other dances of Polynesia. The performance will take place at the Shops of Wailea from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Coconut Frond Weaving at the Shops: The Shops of Wailea invites guests to try their hand at the highly developed Hawaiian skill of weaving. Coconut frond weaving was used to make baskets, mats, and even toys. This event runs weekly from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Fridays

Papa Hula at the Shops: Hosted at the Shops of Wailea, Papa Hula is a celebration of the Hawaiian way of life. Enjoy a complimentary dance lesson, complete with costumes and accessories, and the dance movements and their meanings. This interactive performance runs from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Saturdays

Upcountry Farmers Market: Shop some of the best local souvenirs on the island, indulge in delicious food and support local farmers at one of Maui’s biggest weekly events. Don’t forget to set your morning alarm, as this market favors the early shopper. The Upcountry Farmers Market runs from 7:00 to 11:00 am every Saturday at the Kulamalu Town Center in Pukalani.

Sundays

Maui Gift and Craft Fair: Stop by the Lahaina Gateway Center and browse West Maui’s largest gift and craft fair. This weekly event hosts over 50 vendors, showcasing jewelry, photography, art, crafts, keiki activities, and more. Maui Gift and Craft Fair runs from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm every Sunday.

Maui Sunday Market: Featuring some of Maui’s most renowned food trucks, local vendors, and quality entertainment, the Maui Sunday Market is one of the island’s most popular weekly events. Centrally located at the Kahului Shopping Center, the Maui Sunday Market draws locals and visitors from all corners of the island. The event runs every Sunday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

  1. I listen to Harry Troupe and Missy Aguilar Friday afternoons at the Kaanapali Shores. Not sure why, but there is not much publicity about them. Missy performed with Journey in Diego and Harry is one of the best guitarists on Maui. Free live music during happy hour (2 to 5pm) but cash for the tip jar is highly recommended.
